Governor Appoints Ezell to take office
by Shay Randle - The Daily Advertiser (excerpt)

Gov. Bobby Jindal appointed business owner Michele Ezell to the vacant Lafayette City-Parish Council District 6 representative position on Thursday.

Ezell replaces Bruce Conque, who resigned from the position Oct. 1 to take a full-time job with the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce.

The former executive committee member for the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and owner of Tsunami restaurants will serve as the first woman council member since city-parish government became consolidated.

The decision came just a day after council members failed to break a 4-4 vote to choose between two of five applicants - businessman Raymond "Sam" Doré and attorney Judith Kennedy.
