EBR set to buy former Woman's Hospital site

Mayor-President Kip Holden announced Thursday that the city-parish intends to purchase the former 24-acre Woman’s Hospital campus at Goodwood Boulevard and Airline Highway for $10 million.

The facility will be used for a public safety complex housing both the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Baton Rouge Police Department, said William Daniel, chief administrative officer for Holden.

The sale includes the hospital building, medical office buildings, support service buildings, material management buildings, parking garage and all surface parking. The Metro Council will consider the proposed purchase agreement in January.
