Local legislators rehash 'pressurized' session
by Scott Rogers - News Star (excerpt)

While the recent legislative session may be over, the repercussions will be felt for years to come. That's the sentiment of Sen. Bob Kostelka, R-Monroe, who joined northeastern Louisiana's legislators Tuesday to discuss the recent session with Monroe's business community at a luncheon hosted by the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.

"It was a rushed, pressurized session and one of the worst and toughest sessions we've had in several years," Kostelka said. "A lot of it is still going on right now. I'm tempted to go back and be a judge because we passed so many things that are in the courts now, so there should be full employment for judges."

He believes the Legislature will be required to conduct several special sessions to address some of the issues from the recent session, such as the education reform package and the flex fuel automobile rebates.
