Southern president seeks new revenue
by MICHELLE MILLHOLLON - Advocate (excerpt)

Southern University System President Ronald Mason Jr. said Friday that he is pursuing private fundraising, raffles and other avenues to help generate money for the struggling Baton Rouge main campus.

Mason said the main campus is facing, at a minimum, a $4 million shortfall in the state budget year that starts July 1.

“We’ll be looking across the system for answers to make sure Baton Rouge makes it through next year,” he told officials at a meeting of the Southern University Board of Supervisors.
