Shreveport: Mayoral candidates set for showdown
by Adam Kealoha Causey - Shreveport Times (excerpt)

The stage is set for a Nov. 2 showdown between incumbent Cedric Glover and City Councilman Bryan Wooley. If it's anything like Shreveport's 2006 campaign trail, things could get nasty. But both candidates say that won't happen this time. Then, the state Democratic Party questioned Republican Jerry Jones' integrity with a media blitz. And Jones later responded with a Times ad attacking Glover's voting record in the state Legislature.

Glover and Wooley certainly have not been allies during the past four years. They faced off in 2008 during contentious talks about police pay raises. Both positioned themselves as pro-law enforcement, but Glover said the city didn't have the money to boost pay then. The mayor eventually won that battle.

More recently, Glover accused the Shreveport Sports Authority of jeopardizing a planned college football game during the State Fair of Louisiana. Glover said the sports marketing team shut off communication. Wooley sided with the authority, suggesting Glover wasn't telling the whole story.
