INSIDE POLITICS: Officials fear losing Capitol office space Advocate (excerpt)
The Louisiana Legislature is trying to take over more floors at the State Capitol.
And last week it caused some concern from Secretary of State Jay Dardenne and Attorney General Buddy Caldwell, who want to preserve some office space in the building. House Speaker Jim Tucker filed a resolution about the parceling up of space at the Capitol and Pentagon Barracks — where many legislators have apartments.
There’s not enough space for legislative staff today on the currently assigned floors, Tucker said. Plus, Tucker said, the secretary of state and attorney general already have separate buildings.
