Democratic robo-calls target Cao over health-care vote
U.S. Rep. Ahn "Joseph" Cao, R-New Orleans, is being trashed by a New York congressman over Cao's vote against President Obama's health-care revamp, according to the New York Post. According to the newspaper, Cao's accuser, Rep. Gregory Meeks, says in a recorded message being transmitted in phone calls to the New Orleans area that Cao "stood with the insurance companies and Republicans in Washington, instead of standing up for hardworking families he represents." According to The Hill, a publication that covers Congress, the robo-call campaign is being coordinated by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. According the Post, Meeks, a Democrat, earlier had founded a charity to help Louisiana victims of Hurricane Katrina, but the organization, New Yorkers Organized to Assist Hurricane Families, gave Katrina victims only a small amount of the $31,000 it had collected.
