La. GOP to meet on redistricting in Baton Rouge
Advocate (excerpt)

The Louisiana Republican Party is sponsoring Nov. 6 in Baton Rouge an informational seminar on redistricting.

Panelists will include former state Rep. Emile “Peppi” Bruneau, of New Orleans, state Rep. Tony Ligi, R-Metairie; Republican National Committee members John Ryder and Ruth Ulrich, and Kim Carver, with GCR and Associates Inc. State Party Chairman Roger Villere said the session is for “grassroots activists, elected officials, and anyone else interested in the process.”

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Marriot Hotel. The seminar precedes the quarterly meeting of the Republican State Central Committee, which opens at 10 a.m. the next morning at the same location.

COMMENTARY: Please note that rather than spending $2000 per person to go to Chicago, (reference the legislators in the story above), this seminar is free and in Baton Rouge. It gets back to our commentary from the museum story. There are 'nice to do' expenditures of taxpayer dollars and there are 'have to do' expenditures. The trip to Chicago clearly falls into the first category.
