(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Sen. David Vitter today issued the following statement regarding his vote in opposition to the nomination of Hilda Solis as U.S. Secretary of Labor.
“I couldn’t support this nomination in good conscience.
First, Representative Solis has supported horrible labor policy like the bill to take away the secret ballot from workers in union organizing elections.
Even more worrisome, though, in my meeting with her, she either wouldn’t acknowledge or didn’t know what that bill does. It was startling,” said Vitter.
