BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - This is the week that 33 failing Louisiana schools will learn their fate.
State Superintendent of Schools Paul Pastorek will be making his recommendations for those schools, a dozen of which are located in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Monday night, the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board will be holding a special meeting about the issue.
The 12 schools in East Baton Rouge Parish that are up for debate have been labeled as "academically unacceptable" by the state department of education.
The superintendent of East Baton Rouge Parish says the schools have shown some improvement, but not enough to save them from possible state takeover.
The meeting starts at 5:00 in the central office board room on South Foster.
