A local television news anchor is suing a state representative in small claims court over allegedly shoddy renovation work on a house he bought from the lawmaker’s company.
Michael André Moreau, an anchor at WAFB-TV, Channel 9, filed the claim in Baton Rouge City Court against state Rep. Erich Ponti, owner of Accent Construction Services, a Baton Rouge company.
In the claim, Moreau alleges a renovated house in the Seven Oaks area that he bought from Ponti had plumbing problems that damaged the house. Moreau’s claim says the “house was not suitable to occupy without immediate repairs made.” He also alleges that Ponti failed to get the proper permits for work on the house, a claim Ponti denies.
