The Louisiana Board of Ethics has put its search for an ethics administrator on hold while it researches a reorganization of top agency leadership, Chairman Frank Simoneaux said Tuesday.Simoneaux said the board is looking into splitting the functions of the ethics administrator’s job in two — creating one management chief and one executive counsel post.
The ethics administrator’s job today is “too much for one person” to handle, noting recent law changes that further expanded an already heavy office workload, he said. Any restructuring would have to be approved by state Civil Service and possibly the Legislature, Simoneaux said.
The newly seated ethics panel begun a search for a new administrator in October, with officials saying it was a top priority.
