Story Archives: Governor Jindal on His Way to White House?

Governor Jindal on His Way to White House?
by Jon Fairbanks (excerpt)

FOX 44

Governor Bobby Jindal made his way to Philadelphia to meet with other governors and President Elect Barack Obama. Jindal says he'll press Obama about increasing money for hurricane flood protection for the state. The Governor says he wants the new administration to know that Congress has authorized billions of dollars for hurricane protection that we have yet to receive.

The trip to Philadelphia comes on the heels of a Washington Post newspaper article, comparing Jindal to Barack Obama. Will he also end up in the White House? Some in the GOP say he's already on his way. He denied it, but the questions just won't go away. Many are convinced Bobby Jindal will run for President.

An article in Sunday's Washington Post says Republicans are looking to Jindal as the future of the party. The speculation isn't new, but Jindal's response is. In Iowa, a former State Representative asked Jindal if his presidential campaign is already underway. The Governor replied, "No, not yet!" So what does all of this mean?

Davie Price, a political reporter, says, "They're wondering who's this new figure. They can hand their hopes or even though it is so early on who's the guy that can go out there and compete head to head with Barack Obama. A lot of people think Bobby Jindal could be that person."
