4th District: New Website "CUT 'EM LOOSE CARMOUCHE"
Washington- The NRCC has launched a new website targeting Democrat candidate Paul Carmouche in Lousiana's 4th District. The site, http://www.cutemloose-carmouche.com, probes into Carmouche's deplorable record as Caddo Parish District Attorney of letting criminals escape justice and return to the streets. While Carmouche talks up his law-and-order credentials, a look at the NRCC's new site makes it clear that he has little to brag about.
Carmouche's tenure as District Attorney has been marked by a laundry list of failures:
Carmouche failed to prosecute career criminal John Pilinski under the state's repeat offender law, allowing a man who had been arrested 53 times and convicted of seven felonies to return to the streets and commit at least 20 crimes in the following three weeks.
Carmouche has gone on the record expressing concern that tougher laws would make it seem like Louisiana is "picking on sex offenders," and did his part by declining to seek the full extent of the law and plea bargaining a repeat child rapist down from a possible life sentence or death penalty to a mere five-year prison term.
Carmouche refuses to put repeat drunk driving offenders behind bars, in one case allowing a twice-convicted drunk driver to return to the roads and kill a 15 year-old boy who was helping a woman fix a tire on the side of the road. The driver carried the young man on his hood as he sped away from the crime scene.
"Paul Carmouche's record of failures is so long and so deplorable that the people of Louisiana deserve to know just what they would be getting themselves into with Carmouche representing them in Congress," said NRCC spokesman Ken Spain. "Paul Carmouche has failed the people of Caddo Parish by creating a revolving door within the Louisiana justice system that gives voters little reason to believe that he'll represent them any better in Washington."
