Three Shreveport City Council members say a top mayoral aide has misused city money and shouldn't have a city-issued credit card.
In a letter to Mayor Cedric Glover, Councilmen Monty Walford, Joe Shyne and Bryan Wooley say Executive Assistant Rick Seaton ignored bank and city travel policy. Seaton and other Glover staffers say the office has done nothing wrong besides filing travel receipts past deadline. Among council members' accusations:
-The card was used to purchase personal items.
-Seaton spent more than the card limit.
-Receipts were not turned in to reconcile credit card statements.
-Supporting documents were not turned in within 10 days, per city travel policy.
"Violations of these policies reflect badly on the entire city," states the letter dated Tuesday. "If we ignore the violation of these rules and agreements and do nothing, we will erode the support and confidence of the citizens of Shreveport."
About 130 credit cards are issued throughout city departments, according to the finance department.
