A Democrat-affiliated group that led a voter registration drive earlier this year is still under investigation by state elections officials as the Nov. 4 election approaches.
Secretary of State Jay Dardenne said he’s confident that parish election officials rejected improperly filed and bogus applications.
“We have a very thorough verification process. They just do not accept applications and put people on the (voter) rolls,” Dardenne said.
The probe into Voting is Power activities began in late spring with complaints coming into Dardenne’s office from parish registrars of voters, including East Baton Rouge Registrar Elaine Lamb.
The investigation continues today — months after complaints started coming into Dardenne’s office.
