As the candidates begin to make their announcements and line up support for the upcoming gubernatorial campaign and campaigns for the Louisiana legislature, we beg them to make their points about Katrina, then shut up and move on to other things.

Frankly, we think we are far from alone in our weariness over fingerpointing, whining, complaining, posturing and constant harping over a storm that continues to focus all of our attention and most of our money on a New Orleans area that can't or won't get its act together.

There are issues important to the future of all of the state that are simply being pushed aside because nobody can seem to see west of the Mississippi River or north of Baton Rouge.

Hello, out there. We have needs, too.
