Democratic incumbent Mary Landrieu and Republican state Treasurer John Kennedy will appear Monday at noon in the first of four scheduled debates of the U.S. Senate race.
The Baton Rouge Press Club forum will be moderated by public radio talk show host Jim Engster. The event will not be broadcast live.
Besides Engster, club members will ask questions from the floor, with no restrictions on the subject matter.
Aides for both camps said their candidates have been preparing seriously for the series of debates, though Landrieu has spent much of this week in Washington, D.C., with Congress in session to consider the Economic Stabilization Act in response to the mortgage market calamities. Landrieu was among 25 senators voting against the measure.
