Representative Charles Boustany, Jr. was in Crowley yesterday for an education roundtable with teachers and administrators of Congressional District 7.
This is Boustany's fourth annual roundtable on education, and as in previous years, he opened the floor to the assembled educators to hear their concerns and thoughts on the present and future of education in their parishes.
First in the minds of educators was funding. Concerns that literacy programs, vocational education programs, and technology improvements would go underfunded were repeatedly raised.
Boustany said that educators could expect to see 2009 federal funding to be on par with 2008 funding.
