The National Rifle Association supports the legislation enacted in Louisiana, as well as similar laws elsewhere.
The Louisiana Chemical Association, the Associated Builders and Contractors Inc., the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association and the Louisiana Pulp and Paper Association all opposed the Louisiana legislation.
The Advocate has some past experience with dangers of workplace gun violence. In 1973, a disgruntled former employee wounded Richard E. Palmer, then an Advocate news executive, in our downtown office building. In Louisiana and many other states, law-abiding people can legally own firearms and have them in their homes and vehicles.
