Pay Raise Issue: "This Is A Test Of Character"

Yesterday, Governor Jindal signed the Stelly Repeal into law. That's really great, but don't let it muddy the waters. Once again, we are put on hold...the cuts won't be seen by us until 2010.

The legislature, on the other hand, gets their payraise starting July 1 of this year. Maybe if the lege had put US (aka those that elected them to serve us) first on something, we wouldn't be quite so angry. Alas, they didn't. New legislature, same old way of doing things.

We all know what it will take to get a veto. Our only chance is to make sure when the legislature returns home from their ivory tower, that we all go see them, all of us, repeatedly. We have to make them so uncomfortable in their self serving that they understand the urgency and dire consequences of their actions.

By that I mean, they must know we won't send them back come election time. The legislators must be told to let Gov. Jindal out of his promise to them and they must ask/beg him to veto it.

This is a test of character, and from what I've seen, with the exception of a few such as Sen. Bill Cassidy, Gerald Long and Neil Riser, there just isn't much in those hallowed halls in Baton Rouge.
