EDITORIAL: Ongoing primaries show need for rethinking process

For better or worse, the race for the Democratic nomination will continue for another couple of weeks.

At best, we might hear more about the issues. What will you do about a slowing economy? How will you change health care? When might the war in Iraq end?

But we fear the continued battle between Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama will lead to more whiskey shots, bad bowling, comments about "bitter" voters and "misstatements" about sniper fire.

Regardless of which candidate you favor, the protracted primary season, longer than any in recent memory, raised many questions about the process of choosing a presidential nominee and needs some sort of change.
