THE DEAD PELICAN was at The Cricket Club in New Orleans Thursday night for POLITICS WITH A PUNCH, a production that is often described as the Louisiana version of "Politically Incorrect." As usual, Thursday's production presented a diverse and colorful group of panelists before a packed crowd. One of the panelists was former Governor Dave Treen!
During the discussion, the topic of whether or not to free former Governor Edwin Edwards from federal prison came up.
Former Governor Dave Treen came out heavily in favor of freeing Edwards, going so far as to make references to the Bible, namely Matthew Chapter 6 (it deals with "forgiveness").
Treen proudly spoke of the progress that he had made in springing Fast Eddie from federal prison. The former governor was confident that President Bush would commute Edwards' sentence, thanks to Treen's own efforts.
Treen said that he's sure that Edwards would be free sometime this year- maybe in as little as a few weeks.
