The Louisiana Board of Ethics approved a legislative action agenda Thursday that includes banning lawmakers and their spouses from doing business with state government.
Today, legislators, their spouses — and businesses they own — can get paid by government agencies for work they do, as long as the deal is done through a competitively bid or negotiated process.
The board said that exception should be eliminated. It was one exception among several dozen the board is considering eliminating.
