Just a week after state Rep. Clif Richardson, R-Central, announced plans to resign amid health problems, state Rep. Tony Ligi said he probably will quit to accept a new job.
Ligi, R-Metairie, said he has an offer to serve as executive director and chief legal counsel for the Jefferson Business Council. “It’s a chance to work on the economic health of Jefferson Parish. We’re in very tough times right now,” he said.
Ligi would give up his private legal practice and legislative seat to accept the new job. He first was elected to the Legislature in 2008. Ligi is chairman of the House Republican Legislative Delegation.
