LA CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT 3 RUN-OFF SURVEY RESULTS: BOUSTANY UP 56%-29% (excerpt)
Key Findings
1. Congressman Charles Boustany leads Congressman Jeff Landry 56%-29% in the December 8th run-off election.
Fifty-three percent (53%) of Republicans support Congressman Boustany versus 37% who support Congressman Landry. Boustany leads among key groups for the run-off. Among conservative white voters, Boustany leads Landry 51%-38%. Among Republicans, it is a 53%-37% lead. Landry has a base problem. While Boustany leads 62%-24% in the 75% of the electorate that make up the old 7th Congressional District, his deficit in Landry’s old district (25% of the electorate) is just 37%-45%.
Among the 23% of the voters who can correctly name the date of the run-off as December 8th (a strong indicator that they will vote), Boustany leads 59%-28%.
2. Congressman Boustany has high favorables in the district, while Landry’s image is more mixed. Boustany has a 65% favorables/25% unfavorable image, while Landry has a more mixed image – 39% favorable/41% unfavorable.
