Washington - Family Research Council President Tony Perkins said a man accused of shooting one of his employees Wednesday might have been influenced by the Southern Poverty Law Center's description of the council as a hate group. An FBI affidavit filled today with U.S. District Court in Washington said Floyd Lee Corkins II of Herndon, Va., walked into the Family Research Council's Washington office and shot Leo Johnson, the group's building manager and security officer, telling him: "I don't like your politics." The FBI said it appeared Corkins was angry about the council's opposition to same-sex marriage.
