Alexander discusses local impact of laws

The pending Supreme Court decision on health care reform and a proposal by the Army Corps of Engineers to reduce hours of operation for the Ouachita River's four locks and dams are two of the top issues that would have immediate impact on northeastern Louisiana, according to U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander.

Alexander spoke to a number of representatives from the local business community Thursday during a congressional update luncheon at the Monroe Civic Center.

Congress will resume Monday following its annual Easter break. It will immediately delve into the appropriations process, which includes 12 bills, Alexander said.
