EDITORIAL: Statewide cuts hit museums

The new fiscal year has dawned in Louisiana. And now we will start to see the impact of the budget-balancing efforts that took place during the recent legislative session.

Immediately, cutbacks have been announced in the Secretary of State's Office and the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism.

State parks are cutting their operating hours. The cuts, while inconvenient to some, seem reasonable based on the times most people would go to a park. Museums under the Secretary of State's Office also saw cuts, and these cuts will dramatically change the museums' operations.
