UPDATE: ALARIO DEFIES COURT ORDER: JUDGE ISSUES SECOND RESTRAINING ORDER Louisiana Political News Service
John Roberts files Suit & Fights Ad full of Distortions & Lies!
Yesterday morning, Judge Hans J. Liljeberg signed an emergency Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) forcing the Alario campaign to immediately stop airing new attack ads that falsely attack the endorsed Alliance for Good Government State Senate Candidate, John Roberts.
So far, John Alario has ignored the judgešs order and forced him to issue a SECOND Restraining Order forcing TV stations to stop running the false andmisleading ad. In a letter from Jacob J. Amato, Jr (Alariošs Attorney), he states: "the commercial running in the race for Senate is to be rotated" A new commercial has been shipped and will be run as scheduled."
The letter is deceptive and shows the intent by the Alario campaign to violate the judgešs order to immediately STOP running the ad in question. "John Alario has no respect for ethics or honesty," said John Roberts, regarding the negative attacks.
"Youšd think with all his experiences before judges, juries and grand juries, he would show more respect for a judgešs orders than this! I guess hešll do and say anything to stay in power. He believes hešs above the law."
Roberts is the first candidate to seriously challenge John Alario in more than THIRTY years! John Alario has often been called one of Louisianašs most powerful politicians. Since the early 1980s hešs been involved in numerous scandals, ethics problems and legal challenges.
Alario was named by Jim Letten, an unindicted coconspirator in the Edwin Edwards trial, hešs had his records subpoenaed, office meetings wire tapped by the FBI and beenordered before Judges, Juries and Grand Juries again and again.
"Alario is looking at the same poll numbers we are and his campaign is in real trouble," said Roberts. "This smear campaign is his desperate attempt to cover up his problems by stating lies and exaggerations against me.Change is coming and hešs scared of it."
