Obama nominates Napoleonville judge for federal bench

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama Wednesday nominated Jane Margaret Triche-Milazzo, a state district court judge from Napoleonville, to seat on the federal bench for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

Triche-Milazzo was recommended by Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., who had also recommended New Orleans City Attorney Nanette Jolivette-Brown, who was nominated by the president earlier this month to another vacancy on the federal District Court for the Eastern District. The president announced his nomination of Triche-Milazzo along with his nomination of a another female jurist, Mary Geiger Lewis of South Carolina.

"These women have had distinguished legal careers and I am honored to ask them to continue their work as judges on the federal bench," the president said. "They will serve the American people with integrity and an unwavering commitment to justice."
