The Louisiana legislative auditor criticized the state Department of Health and Hospitals for failing to comply with Medicaid rules, according to an audit released Tuesday.
The legislative auditor found several faults, including some in which claims were paid and services were provided without proper documentation, noted in the “management letter.”
DHH Medicaid Director Don Gregory agreed with the findings in letters to Legislative Auditor Daryl Purpera. Gregory outlined corrective actions DHH employees would take to correct the errors. In an interview Tuesday, Gregory said the management letter was the result of a routine survey during which the auditor tests policies and rules to determine how well DHH as well as doctors, hospitals and other health-care providers are complying.
