When the May 15 deadline for public officials to file their 2009 state financial disclosure reports approached, Jefferson Parish Council members Chris Roberts and Byron Lee asked for extensions. Now their time is up. Roberts said Thursday he filed his report by the mandated Nov. 15 deadline, but not before the Ethics Administration sent Lee and Roberts official notices Nov. 10 that they had 14 days to comply. "I was totally in compliance with state law," Roberts said. He also noted that the deadline for filing was Nov. 15, five days after the administration issued its delinquency notices. "They were premature on this date sending out those notices to begin with," Roberts said.
