Melancon Out Of Gas? (excerpt)
INSIDE LOUISIANA NEWS
Reports are coming in that Charlie Melancon will no longer be running campaign ads. In an unusual move in a final stretch of an election, Melancon was caught on video saying that Vitter’s campaign busted Melancon’s campaign. We are unsure if Melancon is throwing in the towel or if his campaign has ran out of money.
Despite Melancon having the support of James Carville and the daughter of a top Louisiana Democrat donor running for Lt. Governor, Melancon’s campaign never could get any traction.
Melancon also had a series of missteps, including giving the struggling President an “A”, traveling to Canada during the oil spill to meet with trial lawyers, and publishing information on a Vitter staffer (which we at Inside Louisiana News refused to run). The Senatorial contest was closer, but as time went on, Melancon lost ground. This race appears to be clearly over.
