DUBACH — Gov. Bobby Jindal said Tuesday that continued speculation about him seeking national office is being ginned up by political opponents who want him out of the way so they can step in.
Jindal said he won't endorse any of the candidates in a crowded eight-person field for lieutenant governor before Saturday's election, although he didn't rule out supporting someone if there is a runoff as expected. "We'll see what happens after that," he said.
But that hasn't kept some of the lieutenant governor candidates from aligning themselves with Jindal, especially Republican Secretary of State Jay Dardenne, who mentions the popular governor prominently in his TV campaign ads.
