Ticket swap: A game of political football by Mike Hasten - News Star (excerpt)
BATON ROUGE — With the Legislature out of town, Gov. Bobby Jindal jetting off to help other Republican governors get re-elected and budget negotiations going on behind closed doors, the big game in town is LSU football. But not like you might think. State legislators have the opportunity to purchase season tickets. Most of them are prime seating, thanks to a longstanding tradition offered by LSU. Once the football season starts, so does the real big game — Ticket Swap.
The Legislature and state employees are tied into a general Internet service. Any time anyone wants to buy or sell something — most often LSU football or baseball ticket — it shows up as a "Post Office" posting. There was a flurry of postings this past week as LSU prepared to take on West Virginia.
"2 Tickets — West Sideline Section 103 Row 24, 1 Parking pass — new Alex Box lot — $150" For those of you without a seating chart, that's about 24 rows up from the field somewhere between the 40-yard-lines — maybe on the 50. It doesn't get much better than that. You can get a good look at the view from the seats at www.LSU.net and selecting Tiger Stadium from the Facilities link.
