East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff candidate Sid Gautreaux picked up the pace of his campaign Tuesday after qualifying with the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office.

Dardenne back at work for first time since crash

Secretary of State Jay Dardenne went to work Tuesday for the first time since an automobile accident a month ago left him with back and pelvic injuries. By September’s end, Dardenne said he hopes to be back in the office “fairly regularly,” instead of handling most office matters from home.

The Pachyderms of Greater Baton Rouge-sponsored forum at Jefferson Baptist Church drew more than 30 people to see businessman Kyle Ardoin, 39, and health-care advocate John “Jay” Lyles, 27, in the all-Republican race.

Former LSU Associate Athletic Director, men’s tennis coach and small business owner Steve Carter has officially kicked off his campaign for state representative.

Running for Office: State House District 88

PORT VINCENT — State Rep. Mert Smiley Jr., R-Port Vincent, said he is seeking re-election to the District 88 seat in the Louisiana House of Representatives. “I am running for re-election so that I may continue to represent our district’s priorities and values for four more years,” he said.
