Landry vs. Downer: A Comparison of Family Values

Earlier this month, the FRC Action PAC endorsed Jeff Landry for Congress representing Louisiana’s 3rd District.

Per the endorsement, the Family Research Council (FRC) stated, "Jeff Landry is a true defender and protector of the family. He served his country honorably in the Louisiana National Guard and now desires to serve the citizens of Louisiana’s 3rd District," said Tony Perkins, Chairman of FRC Action PAC. "We need representatives who will fight to defend the family against the radical leadership in the House of Representatives, as they attempt to place an overwhelming debt burden on our children and grandchildren.”

In comparison, Hunt Downer has a record of voting in support of gay rights, as indicated below: In 2001, Hunt Downer supported a bill, HB 1517, that extended special benefits, services and assistance for homosexuals. Additionally, in 1997, Downer also supported another bill, SB 914, that also extended special rights for homosexuals. It should be interesting to see how a conservative area such as the 3rd Congressional District see the glaring differences in values between these two candidates.
