Four candidates signed up on Wednesday to take their shot at becoming the mayor of Alexandria.
Qualifying for the Oct. 2 elections in Central Louisiana began on Wednesday. Candidates also have today and Friday to sign up at clerks of court offices throughout the area.
Alexandria Mayor Jacques Roy qualified to seek a second term and received three challengers on Wednesday, as City Council President Roosevelt Johnson, Von Jennings and the Rev. Joseph Franklin also qualified. All three previously had announced their intentions to seek the office.
