Voters in Senate District 2 will vote this fall to fill the seat that Sen. Ann Duplessis, D-New Orleans, is vacating June 27 to join Mayor Mitch Landrieu's administration as deputy chief administrative officer. The primary election is set for Oct. 2, with any necessary runoff to follow Nov. 2, according to a schedule that Senate President Joel Chaisson II, D-Destrehan, released Monday. Those dates coincide with the already scheduled Congressional primaries and general election. Qualifying for the District 2 seat will open July 7 at 8 a.m. and continue through July 9 at 5 p.m. District 2 encompasses much of eastern New Orleans.
