The trials of two area politicians and their co-defendants have been delayed.
The trial of Ball Mayor Roy Hebron and his four co-defendants -- including Ball Police Chief Jay Barber -- has been continued from Oct. 12 to Feb. 2. The defendants are facing federal charges of conspiracy to commit disaster fraud relating to relief efforts following Hurricane Gustav.
In a separate case, the trial of former Avoyelles Parish Sheriff Bill Belt and his co-defendants, which had been set for July 7, has been moved to Oct. 12.
