State Sen. Edwin Murray, D-New Orleans, passed a resolution out of a Senate committee Wednesday that calls upon the Louisiana State Law Institute to study and make recommendations with regard to changes made during Gov. Bobby Jindal's ethics law overhaul during a 2008 special session of the Legislature. Among the issues to be reviewed is the new system in which the judging of alleged violations is handled by a panel of administrative law judges rather than the ethics board. The Law Institute, overseen by legal professionals, has studied and made recommendations on a variety of issues but normally acts upon request. The resolution will considered by the full Senate.
