The seven technical college regions now each have unique names after a Louisiana Community and Technical College System Board of Supervisors meeting. The board approved name changes at its March meeting. Louisiana Technical College Region 4 — the region that encompasses technical colleges in Acadiana — has been renamed Acadiana Technical College.
"The name change will allow regions to exercise more autonomy at addressing workforce needs specific to an area," Acadiana Technical College Director Phyllis Dupuis said.
The changes will be implemented as a result of an extensive accreditation process conducted by the Council on Occupational Education, according to a news release.
