BATON ROUGE — A state lawmaker and the state's top public school official say it could be time to erase some of questions that arise about students' school performance when looking at report cards.
Having different grading scales for different classes, different schools and different school districts creates confusion and can work to the advantage or disadvantage of students, says Rep. Rickey Hardy, D-Lafayette.
Superintendent of Education Paul Pastorek agreed Wednesday. "It's important for a people to know that an A is and A, whether it's in Bunkie, Bienville or Bastrop," he said. "An A in one school should be comparable to another."
