Story Archives: Jindal raised $4.6 million in contributions in 2009 ($7.1 million cash on hand)

Jindal raised $4.6 million in contributions in 2009 ($7.1 million cash on hand)
by Robert Travis Scott - Times-Picayune (excerpt)

Preliminary figures show Gov. Bobby Jindal raised about $4.6 million in campaign contributions last year, giving him a $7.1 million warchest for his 2011 re-election bid, the chairman of the state Republican Party said. Party chief Roger Villere said the figures come from his knowledge of Jindal's campaign finance report, which will be filed soon with the Louisiana Ethics Administration and posted on the ethics web site. Jindal campaign officials are still finalizing the report, which will provide the completed figures. The governor had more than 9,300 donors, and nearly three of every four contributors gave less than $100, Villere said. Wednesday is the deadline for Louisiana politicians to submit their campaign finance reports covering donations and expenditures during 2009, but some are filing early with the Ethics Administration. Jindal's campaign had not filed his report as of Thursday evening. The filing could come Friday, officials with the party and Jindal's office said. The filings can be submitted electronically and automatically posted on the ethics board web site at any time of day or night. Jindal raised $3.5 million in 2008, his first year in office. He raised more than $14 million from about 24,000 donors for his 2007 election.
