Alexandria lawyer Elizabeth Erny Foote was nominated Thursday to serve as a judge on the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana.
Foote is among several nominees announced Thursday by the White House. "These men and women have had distinguished legal careers, and I am honored to ask them to continue their work as judges on the federal bench," President Barack Obama said in a statement. "They will serve the American people with integrity and an unwavering commitment to justice."
Foote, a partner in the Smith Foote Law Firm in Alexandria, specializes in commercial business litigation, insurance and medical malpractice defense. Her nomination must be approved by the U.S. Senate.
