VP Biden In NOLA Today- Obama's Job Rating Here "About As Bad As It Can Get"
WWL 870 AM - 105.3 FM (excerpt)

The Vice-President visits New Orleans today to tout the administration's hurricane recovery and rebuilding efforts. But, the visit may be a rebuilding effort of its own.

Pollster Bernie Pinsonat, with Southern Media and Opinion Research, says it's likely an effort to rebuild support with folks who've not been happy with what the federal government has done so far. "Coming down here and talking about giving away money is probably an attempt to try to start shoring up the problems they're having with Louisiana voters," says Pinsonat. He says President Obama's job performance rating in Louisiana is about as bad as it can get.

"They're going to try to bring the president's popularity up, and at the same time, hope that they can do the same for Senator Mary Landrieu," Pinsonat says. "What better way to do it than come in here and start talking about all the great things they're going to do to help the region." Senator Landrieu will accompany the vice president at separate events in New Orleans and Cameron Parish in Grand Lake. "It's an attempt to start the rebuilding process with the voters who've never been happy with what the federal government has done as far as their responsibility," says Pinsonat. "I guess it's about time they start spending a little more time down here trying to improve their image. And, of course, at the same time, Senator Landrieu has taken a beating for supporting them on health care."
