St. Tammany Parish School Board Member Donald Villere is the second person to announce his intention to run for the remainder of former Mandeville Mayor Eddie Price's term. Villere, a Republican, touted his experience on the School Board and other government bodies but said he would represent a break from problems the city has faced in the last year. "Donald is a familiar and trusted face in the community but a new face in city government," said a statement from his campaign. "He has a strong vision to move our city forward beyond the headlines of the recent past and to restore confidence in the office of the Mayor and city government." Mandeville will hold a special election on March 27 to replace Price, who resigned in October, a week before he pleaded guilty to federal corruption charges. Interim Mayor Edward "Bubby" Lyons has filled the position since then but will not run in the race, which will determine who will lead the city until 2012.
