Story Archives: DAVE TREEN LIED!

DAVE TREEN LIED!
by C.B. FORGOTSTON - Forgotston.com

Here's what he said:

Last Tuesday former Governor Dave Treen appeared on WWL Radio to discuss his efforts to get Edwin Edward's 10-year Federal prison sentence commuted.

In the course of his presentation Treen said that he had talked with ALL the Republicans in the LA Congressional Delegation and none of them opposed President Bush commuting EWE's sentence.

Here's what they said:

[S]pokesmen for Reps. Richard Baker, Bobby Jindal, and Rodney Alexander said that their bosses don't recall such a conversation or any commitment regarding a possible commutation. Jindal said any request for a commutation or pardon should go through the normal Justice Department reviews.

There was no immediate comment from GOP Reps. Jim McCrery of Shreveport and Charles Boustany of Lafayette. Sen. David Vitter, R-La., said through a spokesman that he "expressed very strong reservations" to Treen and others about the idea of a commutation for Edwards. Times Picayune August 5, 2007.

There's no other way to say it than Treen LIED!

Treen needs better priorities

In the Post Katrina/Rita era, LA, in general, and South LA, in particular, face a lot of major problems (least of which is flood protection).

If he still has any influence, "Formerly Clean" Treen needs to find some better causes to to lobby President Bush and Congress than getting his bitter rival Edwin Edwards released from prison early.
