Bryan Hammett For Senate: Are We Dumb Enough To Vote Him Back In?
Louisiana Political News Service

Back in 1995, Bryan Hammett voted for term limits, but now he says that 14 years in the legislature isn’t enough. He wants more. Now he is running for the Senate.

Hammett was first elected to the Louisiana Legislature back in 1991 and was on the Edwin Edwards team. He voted for raising taxes and for the video poker, the New Orleans casino, and the riverboat casinos. The obvious result– we’re still on the bottom of the education lists and the gambling spawned a new cycle of political corruption that put Edwin Edwards and some of Hammett’s legislative colleagues in jail. The high taxes and corruption have driven more and more businesses out of Louisiana, so that our population was shrinking long before Katrina, as more and more young people have left the state to look for jobs.

During his 14 years in the legislature, Bryant Hammett profited financially, in perfect “good-ole-boy” fashion enjoying a cozy relationship with various local governments and agencies.

Hammett even brags on his own company website about how his company has grown while he was in the legislature and more recently a Blanco appointee (LRA and Wildlife &Fisheries) almost quadrupling in size while he raked in millions from the taxpayers he was elected to serve.

Bryant Hammett thinks we’re dumb enough to keep voting for the same “good-ole-boy” politics. He's itching to get back in the legislative “good-ole-boy, I’ll-scratch-your-back-and-you-scratch-mine” culture.

Are we dumb enough to vote him back in?
